The GPZ 8000 & The Z18 Coil: Capitalising on Perfect Prospecting Conditions
Since its release in March, our Outback Prospecting (OBP) customers have been hard at work mastering the Minelab GPZ 8000. Thanks to dedicated dealer support and extensive field work, our community is already seeing incredible results.
Right now, we are experiencing a unique seasonal shift: the ground has slowly dried out to the point where it is the driest it has been this time of year in many years.
What Dry Ground Means for Your Detector?
From a detector’s point of view, dry ground means significantly better depth due to drastically reduced ground conductivity.
The GPZ 8000 comes standard with the new Z18 coil. While a larger coil typically means greater depth, it can also pull in more EMI and also suffer ground conductivity if the earth is damp or moist.
Minelab will eventually release alternative coils to combat this:
- Z13: A smaller, highly agile version of the Z18.
- Z17: A revolutionary noise-cancelling and conductivity-cancelling deep-punching coil unlike anything we’ve seen before. (not as deep puching as the Z18)
Why the Z18 is King Right Now:
Even though we already have access to these upcoming coils, we are choosing not to use them right now.
Because the ground is so exceptionally dry, we currently have the absolute perfect conditions to run the larger Z18 coil without the usual conductivity impediment. The deep gold finds being made by our customers right now are absolute testament to how powerful this combination is in dry earth.
